Going Greek at UNC? Not sure what to expect? Already in a sorority or fraternity? Greek Life is here for you.
We are a group of students trying to figure out how life in the Greek System and God intersect. Does God really have any relevance to life in college? We believe He does!
We are all on a journey where none of us are perfect and none of us have it all figured out. Yet in the midst of college life, we believe that God wants to be a part of our journeys. In fact, we believe that God wants our journeys and He wants them in a beautiful, cataclysmic, life changing way! Greek Life is a branch of UNC Cornerstone that seeks to provide resources for every Greek student at UNC–both believers and non-believers–to have an authentic encounter with Christ so that they might respond, having an impact for the Gospel in their houses and for the rest of their lives. If this sounds like you or something you might be interested in, please come check us out!
Take a break from the school week on Tuesday nights in Murphey 116 and join us in worship, hear a message from Miles, and build community with other Greek students.
In order to build fellowship between the different sororities involved in Greek Life, the women’s ministry team organizes several events each semester including the Women’s Ministry Retreat in the spring. Women in Greek Life are also encouraged to join the underclassmen or upperclassmen bible studies that meet once a week.
The Greek Life Men’s Ministry focuses on community between different fraternities through organizing events each semester such as the Men’s Ministry Retreat in the spring, as well as inviting the guys to Mrs. D’s to watch sports. Inter-fraternity bible studies are available for the men in Greek Life.
From the beach to the mountains, the fall retreat is a great weekend getaway in the middle of the semester. Hiking, campfires, worship, ropes courses, small groups, hot topic discussions– you name it! The fall retreat focuses on growing individuals in God’s name while providing an opportunity to develop friendships outside of Chapel Hill.
Greek Life has organized trips to Memphis, TN, the Dominican Republic, and East Asia to spread God’s love to others. For the past several years, students have gone to the Dominican Republic to pair with Mission Emmanuel. In 2012, Greek Life and Cornerstone joined forces with Service Over Self (SOS), a nonprofit Christian ministry in Memphis, to demonstrate a servant’s heart through inner-city home repair. Several Greek Life members made the trek to East Asia in May 2012 to reach people in the 10/40 window.
Greek Life members collaborate with Go Meals one night a week to pick up leftover food from fraternities and sororities and deliver it to the IFC homeless shelter on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard in Chapel Hill.
Greek Life teams up with Hope Gardens several times during the year to demonstrate God’s love by offering service to the community.
